The Hardware Support Specialist will primarily configure, order, support, image, and repair laptop, desktop, tablet, cell phones, and other peripheral equipment within the company.  Support will be both direct and remote.  This position will additionally be responsible for tracking all hardware assets as well as setting up a refresh plan and recovery of equipment.   The position will review and prioritize requests through a work order management system providing effective communication with field personnel on timeframe and status of all tickets.  Responds and resolves assigned work orders via phone, e-mail, or remote administration.  Follow up on open items and outstanding issues through completion and escalate issues as appropriate.

 

A significant part of this role is understanding the management of hardware from configuration, mass preparation (imaging), and staying up to speed on new hardware technology.  Effective communication is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Soft Skills:
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks for most efficient resolution
    • Notify client of resolution status by reporting progress of issues
    • Strong problem solving / troubleshooting skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Patient and friendly customer service focus at all times
    • High level of organization and attention to detail

 

  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong PC, tablet, and smartphone support skills
    • Experience with Imaging and deployment tools for PC’s (MDM knowledge a plus)
    • Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot operating systems, software, and malware issues
    • Train users on new computer hardware functionality
    • Manage asset tracking and licensing of all hardware
    • Knowledge of remote support and administrative tools
    • Documents and enforces configuration procedures
    • Create and maintain knowledgebase for common issues and questions
    • Basic Active Directory account administration
    • Strong knowledge of Windows 7, 8, and 10

Qualifications

Minimum 2+ years of experience working in a hardware management environment providing preparation and direct support for hundreds, if not thousands of standardized devices.  Must show ability to be dynamic, adapt, and independent with strong worth ethic to follow issues through complete resolution.
